Parks & Recreation Facilities in the Destin Area
One of the most important thing for young families when deciding on a place to live is a good community to raise a family. Destin has one of the best communities around with 17 local parks or recreation facilities in the city of Destin alone. These are all open to the public and are suitable for children. Buck Destin Park
Basketball court, bike rack, parking area, picnic tables, a playground, and tennis courts.
Open daily 9 AM to dusk.
Capt. Royal Melvin Heritage Park (Harbor Front)
Features pathways, benches, picnic tables, and an exquisite view of the world famous Destin Harbor.
Open dawn to dusk daily with extended hours for special events.
Children Park at Morgan Sports Center
Located on the east side parking lot of the Morgan Sports Center, this park features a parking area, picnic tables, a playground, and public restrooms.
Open daily from 9 AM to dusk.
Clement Taylor Park
This is a 3.55 acre park also known as “Calhoun Park”. Amenities include a waterfront gazebo, pier, pavilion, beach swim area, playground, and picnic area. The pavilion is available for rental to private organizations and individuals by calling the Community Center at (850) 654-5184.

Dalton Threadgill Park
This is a 3.9 acre youth sports facility which includes one major league field, one girl’s softball field, one tee ball field, bleachers, bathrooms and a concession stand.

Destin Dog Park
The Destin Dog Park has been one of the biggest hits in Destin! The park is approximately 3 acres and includes separate area for large dogs and small dogs. The facility has watering stations for dogs and their two legged companions, benches and waste receptacles. Please keep in mind that all dogs must remain on a leash until inside the park and upon leaving the park. Destin Sports Fields
This facility offers the elementary school with the highest quality P.E. area and also hosts a variety of youth and adult league opportunities. Ammenities include a 400 meter rubberized track, regulation football field, soccer field, baseball field and an all-purpose field. Some of the fields are lighted to provide the community with the opportunity to utilize the area after work and school.

Harbor Lane Park
Harbor Lane Park is a neighborhood park located on the eastern shoreline of Joe’s Bayou. View of the Bayou from the bluff are exceptional. Take a few minutes out of your day to sit and relax as you enjoy the peace and quiet. Walk down the pier across the street and enjoy the view of the bay as you wind down from a long day of work.

Harborview Park
This park features benches, handicap parking, picnic tables, and a waterfront deck area.

Jewel Melvin Park
This is a neighborhood park located along the southern shoreline of Twin Lakes. The park features improved parking area, trails, benches and picnic tables.

Joe’s Bayou Boat Launch
Are you a boat or jet ski owner? Then, Joe’s Bayou is the perfect location for you to launch your boat! This park features five boat ramp launches. There is a $10 daily boat launch fee. However, residents of the city of Destin can receive a free decal from city hall or the community center by providing identification, proof of residency, and boat/trailer registration. Just another perk for being a Destin resident!

June White Decker Park
This park provides public beach access off of Scenic Highway 98 adjacent to the Silver Shells Condominiums. Here, you will find parking, a bike rack, and public restrooms.

Kell-Aire Park North/South
This is another neighborhood park located in the beautiful Kell-Aire neighborhood in Destin. The park features a playground, a nature walk, benches, and a bike rack.

Main Street Park
This quaint little park is located near many neighborhoods in Destin. The .75 acre park features a fishing pier and picnic facilities and has been a dedicated parkland since the early 1950’s.

Mattie Kelly Park and Nature Walk
This is a 10.13 acre bayou access park. Amenities include a pier, beach area and picnic area.

Morgan Sports Center
The Morgan Sports Center is a large sports facility with four regulation softball fields, two little league fields, three soccer fields and a children’s playground.

The Shores at Crystal Beach Park (Gulf Front)
Located on the Gulf of Mexico, The Shores at Crystal Beach Park features a pavilion, public restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and a small parking lot. Located directly on the gulf, this park provides public beach access. Enjoy lunch under the pavilion and then walk down to the beach and enjoy a day in the sun.

Destin also has a duck pond where you can go and feed the ducks and sit on the picnic tables. The duck pond is right down the street from Destin Elementary School. So, many of the kids enjoy eating an afternoon snack at the duck pond right after school.
